Briscoe is S.M.A.R.T Art Partnership

S.M.A.R.T. partners with Briscoe Elementary School and teaches over 500 elementary students annually through our fully aligned TEKS and IB Units of Inquiry art education curriculum.

Professional Development

S.M.A.R.T mentors university students through hands on art handling workshops, introducing framing materials, teaching art presentation and the science of archivability.

Tours

S.M.A.R.T. tours share 10 artist studios, 4 art galleries, custom picture frame shop & inspiring architecture with students, educators, artists and community.

HISTORY

In 2012 S.M.A.R.T. was invited by the SAISD Foundation to be an art partner with Briscoe Academy.  We began teaching one class and as of 2021 S.M.A.R.T. now serves all grade levels pre-k throught 5th.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Briscoe is S.M.A.R.T. art parnership is the only one of it's kind in the San Antonio Independent School District.  Since 2011 close collaboration with campus educators afford students the opportunity to leave their school during the school day and experience art on the S.M.A.R.T. campus. S.M.A.R.T.S.'s TEKS and IB aligned art programming directly supports Briscoe Elementary's IB World School curriculyum.  Through STEAM based art education S.M.A.R.T. introduces students to multiple art forms using a 4 step process. 

MISSION

To support the IB goals of Briscoe Elementary and create a foundation for creative expression through our 4 step art education curriculum: Tours, Studio classes, Presentation and Exhibition.
