WALL TIME | MURALS

Wall Time is a platform for artistic opportunity where S.M.A.R.T. celebrates local, national and international artists.  We believe our murals tell stories, inspire reflection, encourage collaboration and form connections that transcend differences. We bring people and countries together through the power of art.

Thank you to all our Community Partners.

CODO A CODO (elbow to elbow)

Background [San Antonio + Argentina]

In 2022, local business owner Lisa Wong, owner of Rosario's  brought her dream to a reality with the purchase of a new building in Southtown. S.M.A.R.T. Executive Director  Andy Benavides was hired to curate and facilitate the connection between international artist INTI (from Argentina based in Barcelona) and Wong. Together, they shared stories and provided INTI  the ingredients for his visual representation, Codo a Codo. This is INTI's first mural in Texas.

The Parade

Background [San Antonio + Spain]

In 2021 S.M.A.R.T. mentored local artist Rudy Herrera on bringing his vision for The Parade to life. Because of S.M.A.R.T.'s global reach, we connected Rudy with international artist Jorge Rodriguez Gerada from Barcelona, Spain who mentored and assisted Herrera with his first large scale work. An international cultural collaboration we are very proud to have been a part of. Local and global together strengthens us all.

COATS FOR KIDZ

Background

December 2022, S.M.A.R.T. with our community partners launched a campaign to collect winter coats for children in need. Partnering with international artist Jorge Rodriguez Gerada, Gerada created a large scale portrait of a Latina. S.M.A.R.T. then orchestrated Briscoe Elementary 4th and 5th grade students to place the collected coats in a jacket and hood design. Coats were distributed to 5 local schools - receiving 100 each. Keeping children warm over these cold San Antonio winter snaps. We think that's pretty S.M.A.R.T.
